Blue Merle with tan markings

orange sable parti

I am going to share a couple of links with you that I find very helpful.

There are many colors of Pomeranians.  I want to explain a few basic color concepts.

1. sable mean black tips, almost any color can be sabled.  Sabled puppies often change a lot between puppyhood and adulthood.  A dog that is heavily sabled can be lightly sabled or barly noticably sabled as an adult.  No one can garentee the color of a puppy as an adult, exspecially if they are sabled.

2. parti means 50% white, can be a any base color

3. Pibal parti means 90% white with any base color

With that in mind, here is a link to the color chart I refer to when I am figuring out the colors of my own dogs.

This is the same site, just a direct link to the Pomeranian standards that the American Pomeranian Club and AKC go by.
